Ben is an experienced mental health professional with a passion for helping customers to explore new interests and live their best lives.

Before joining the disability sector, Ben worked in an entirely different field. At the age of 20, he joined the Australian Army and served five years as a Specialist Driver. While he loved the adventures that came with being in the Army, he ultimately decided it wasn’t the right fit long-term.

Ben realised he wanted a career where he could help people achieve their goals. After completing a Certificate III in Individual Supports, he started working as a Mental Health Support Worker. He spent two years in the role, enjoying the impact he was making in peoples’ lives, before deciding he wanted to play a bigger role in customers’ support networks. That’s what inspired him to enrol in a Certificate IV in Mental Health and become a Psychosocial Recovery Coach – and the rest, as they say, is history!

As a Psychosocial Recovery Coach, Ben’s laid-back and proactive approach helps him form strong partnerships with customers. His experience in Support Work means he understands what quality supports look like and has a good awareness of service providers across Adelaide, giving his customers plenty of options to choose from. Plus, as a huge advocate for the positive impacts of nature on mental health, he’s always looking for opportunities to combine the two.

When he’s not working, you can find Ben hanging out with his four (yes, four!) rescue dogs, spending time in nature, and reading. He also plays bass guitar in a band that pays tribute to some of the biggest rock bands from the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
