What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding and supports to Australians under the age of 65 who are living with a permanent and significant disability, assisting them to live as independently as possible. Enhanced Lifestyles is a registered NDIS services provider that tailors its services to its customers, offering maximum choice and control.

Who can access the NDIS?

In order to be eligible, people with disabilities must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities
  2. Be under 65 years of age when they first access the scheme.
  3. Be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen who holds a Protected Special Category Visa

To find out if you’re eligible to receive funding please visit the NDIS website and complete the NDIS Access Checklist or contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) directly on 1800 800 110.

Where is the NDIS available?

The NDIS is available throughout South Australia to individuals with a permanent disability. Within South Australia, there are 29,538 individuals who benefit from the NDIS and 14,713 receiving support for the first time.

Who will decide if I can access the NDIS?

The NDIA determines individual eligibility for the NDIS. The NDIA is the national agency responsible for running the NDIS. Some people, including people living in supported accommodation, accessing a community access service such as a day program, accessing a specialist disability case management service or accessing a respite service, will go through a simplified eligibility process, based on the supports they currently receive.
