Before she became a part of the Enhanced Lifestyles team, Julie worked as a Developmental Educator. In this role, she supported customers of all ages to develop life skills and engage with their community. Some of the work involved in being a Developmental Educator is quite similar to specialist support coordination, and this work was Julie’s favourite part of her role. Realising this, she decided to move solely into specialist support coordination.

Julie has completed a double degree in Special Education and Disability Studies at Flinders University, providing a solid theoretical and practical understanding of effective supports for complex needs.

As a Specialist Support Coordinator, Julie enjoys forming close working relationships with customers. Part of her approach is developing a thorough understanding of customers’ unique needs and identifying ways that she can empower them to lead the lifestyle that they want. She has a great interest in leveraging her customers’ strengths to help them live lifestyles that are more integrated within their communities.

Julie loves the variety in her role, and especially enjoys introducing new ideas and opportunities to customers that fit right in with their aspirations. In fact, she gets just as excited as customers do when they are living life to the fullest and achieving a goal!

In her spare time, Julie leads an active lifestyle by hiking and adventuring around Adelaide with her. Julie and her daughter are animal lovers and volunteer their time for the RSPCA by fostering kittens.
