Q: What qualifications, if any, do I need to become a Personal Attendant with Enhanced Lifestyles?
A: You will need to clear a police check and reference checks and have a knowledge of manual handling. Additional qualifications could be an advantage but are not considered essential. Further details are outlined in the job description.
Q: How many hours per day will I work?
A: This can vary depending on the Consumers needs. Our minimum shift is one hour, but you could work for several Consumers. This aspect is flexible and varies between Personal Attendants.
Q: Will I receive training before working with Consumers?
A: Yes. You will work with one of our existing workers for the first shift who will show you the routine and demonstrate how to use any equipment.
Q: Do I need to get my own insurance?
A: As an employee of Enhanced Lifestyles’ you are covered by our Workcover policy.
Q: What duties will I be required to do?
A: The actual duties vary between each Consumer, but some examples are outlined in the duties section of the job description.
Q: Do I have a choice which Consumers I will work with?
A: Yes. Both Consumers and Personal Attendants need to be able to communicate effectively with each other to maintain a good working relationship and both are involved in this choice.
Q: Is the employment full time or casual?
A: The employment is casual to maintain flexibility for the Consumers. However, the work is ongoing and flexible and Personal Attendants are able to determine how much they want to work.
Q: What if I need time off work?
A: After 6 months employment, Personal Attendants begin to accumulate holidays. Once a week or more of holiday time has been accumulated a request for leave can be made. All other time off is negotiated with your Consumers and Co-workers.
