“Our vision is to become a world leader in consumer
controlled provision of personal services to people
with physical disabilities.”
History
The Organisation began as Disabled Independent Persons of South Australia under the auspices of the Crippled Children's Association (now Novita Children's Services) and became independent in 1990 having obtained Commonwealth Government funding. The funding success led to a name change, with the Organisation becoming the Community Independence Association.
In 1991 a second independent Organisation called South Australian Independent Lifestyles was incorporated and offered the same model of Consumer-driven service provision.
Community Independence Association and South Australian Independent Lifestyles amalgamated in 2000 to become Enhanced Lifestyles.
Our success and growth has been significant because we have kept sight of what is most important - the empowerment of people with physical disabilities to manage our own support and the management of our Organisation.
